Cleome Hassleriana, commonly known as Spider Flower or Spider plant, is a tender annual growing to a height of 150 cm. Spider Flower is a species of Cleome native to South America and southeast Brazil. Cleome Hassleriana is usually cultivated as an ornamental plant, appreciated most for flower colors.
Cleome Hassleriana ‘Helen Campbell’ is the white spider flower and it has stiffy upright, spiny stems and is topped by unusual, beautiful flowers. Our advice is to grow cleomes in bold groups in the middle of a border giving plenty of impact.
Cleome Hassleriana ‘Rose Queen’ is a very good choice for pastel-coloured schemes or for softening bold flower arrangements. ‘Rose Queen’ has characteristic, stiff, spiny stems and is topped by deep pink flowers. It’s a gorgeous spider flower.

Cleome Hassleriana ‘Violet Queen’ is the reddish violet form of the spider flower. ‘Violet Queen’ is equally effective in a one-coloured group or in a mix with white and pink cleomes. For slightly shorter plants, don’t sow seed until mid-spring.
How to grow Spider plant
Provide white spider plant, ‘Rose Queen’ Cleome and ‘Violet Queen’ spider plant light, fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny position. Spider Flower adapts to moist to slightly dry conditions and different kinds of soil, including those containing loam, clay-loam, or gravel. Spider plant loves warm weather.
