The field of dream

In the yesterday article “Wild flower field into your home garden”, we spoke about the species of wild flowers and their exigencies to light, sun and soil.
Today it’s about the wild field, a mix of wild flowers field, the field of dream just into your home garden. Just fill your garden with white, blue, yellow, violet, pink flowers. Your home garden will look like a wild field, an explosion of colors and tones.
As we said before, the wild flower’s needs are a few and can be neglected. These flowers are beautiful, delicate, bright colored, and, what’s special to wild flowers, their tolerance and their capacity to bloom in the worse growing conditions.
If you want a description in a few words, the wild flowers are fresh as a virgin and natural as a lady without make up.
So, you can plant a flower field without caring it too much, just to be aware of how to sow the wild flower seeds so that you enjoy their beauty since spring till autumn.
As a trick, sow wild flower seeds in a delimitated mini garden, just in the centre of the lawn, giving the shape that you want. Thus, the flower field is marked out and is looking like a surprising flower glade.
Many gardeners missed the opportunity of having a rich flower field, because they didn’t prepare the soil well before sowing the flower seeds. To grow as well as in their natural ambient, the wild flowers need a dry and poor in nutrients soil, cleaned of weeds and herbs.

There are also wild flowers which love the wet clay soils. Examples of these are European bistort or Pink bistort (Bistorta officinalis), Meadow geranium (Geranium pratense), Globeflower or Globe flower (Trollius) etc.
When and how to sow a flower field?
The optimum time of sowing is in spring or autumn.
Before you set to work on sowing, have to assure yourself that the soil is well prepared. Therefore, dig it for few times, remove all the dump goods, stones and herbs and rake the surface till the soil gets fine.
Once the soil is prepared, you can start sowing the wild flower seeds. Mix the flower seeds with sand or bone meal and generously strew them all over the field. Use 1-5 g flower seeds on 1 m.
After planting the flower field, lightly press the soil using some wooden boards.
Flower field care
At the beginning of summer, you have to start the field irrigation (constantly water it) till the seeds germination phase.
Do the first mowing after about two weeks from the sowing to permit the slowly growth flowers to develop too. Also remove all the dried herbs to maintain the poorness of the soil.

We love, appreciate and admire the wild flowers, so we like to name the wild glade for the home garden “Love Field”.
